Brand Stories

b3 pic.jpg

Projects: retail rebrand, front-door marketing tool, members-only content, b3 magazine edits

Role: copywriter, editor, concept designer

Deliverables: retail re-brand, membership marketing, studio owner tools, seasonal campaigns

Working with the creatives and producers at barre3 HQ, I wrote copy for a range of projects, including a portfolio of marketing materials for studio owners. Some of the pieces (like this banner) needed to communicate a lot in just a few words.

Like an open house, but stronger, sweatier and more fun.

Barre3 members are a passionate bunch. For the uninitiated, we wanted to highlight the support that turns this workout into a lifestyle.

Sahlia Jewelry

Projects: Website redesign and rewrite, brand tone refresh, ongoing creative work, Campaign design and creation

roles: writer, concept designer, Art director

Deliverables: Website; social media, email and blog content; photo stories

Sahlia Jewelry is a study in organic shapes, mixed metals and breezy, cool-girl vibes. Working closely with the owner and designer, I led the company on branding and storytelling projects, paying special attention to the interaction between design and language. Using a dreamy tone and aesthetic, we told the story of Sahlia Jewelry in digital spaces, as well as in-person events like music festivals and design fairs. Below is a small snapshot of what I helped create.

Keeping with the brand’s aesthetic philosophy of easy beauty and understated simplicity, I designed the Sahlia Jewelry webpage to be bright, spare and easy to navigate.

When writing the website copy, I kept the tone relaxed, a little magical and rounded out with technical metalwork details:

CRESCENT MOON HOOP: A variation of the beloved hoop earring, these beauties are inspired by the upward-crescent shape of the moon as seen from the tropics. A hand-formed sterling-silver hoop frames the hand-pounded rose or white-bronze plate.

To launch a collection, I collaborated with blogger Alison Wu to create an Instagram-ready photo story for the brand. Alison and I worked together on art direction, prop and wardrobe styling and photography, while she co-starred alongside the jewels.

Air Max

Project: nike's Month-long Air Max Day campaign

Story: women's city collection

Role: writer

Deliverables: copy for multiple air max stories across web, social media, snkrs launch calendar and email

Classic art meets modern icons. Celebrating five of the world's most influential sneaker epicenters, the women's Spring 2016 City Collection nods to a piece of the architecture and design history of New York, Paris, Shanghai, London and Tokyo. Each design reimagines an iconic Air Max silhouette in a mix of patters and colors with a unique dubre to represent an essential artistic period of each destination.

Tokyo's Air Max Zero speaks to the elegance and simplicity of traditional Japanese style. A fused upper provides a textured backdrop to the wave-inspired stitching on the heel and toebox. A Nike logo on the heel nods to the asymmetrical yet balance style emblematic of Japanese design.

The Air Max Thea delivers an Art Deco-inspired design with a contrasting sunburst pattern replicating the vaulted triangular windows of the iconic Chrysler building in New York City. Rich Suede pairs with a leather Swoosh in black tones synonymous with NYC.

Calling to mind Paris' Art Nouveau movement--a decadent time and place for design--the Air Max 1 Ultra Paris represents a moment when lush fabrics, curves and intricate details ruled. Gold embroidered details set against a premium suede upper provide a rich update for a look inspired by the intricate architecture found within the city.

Shanghai, a city known for honoring its traditional Chinese heritage while celebrating a modern aesthetic. This Air Max 90 Ultra features embroidered patterns on a suede upper, premium laces and an accented Air-Sole unit encased by a modern, cored-out outsole.

The Air Max BW Ultra is reimagined with a traditional tile pattern popular in Victorian-era London. Black embroidery bordering the silhouette marries a breathable Hyperfuse upper with a lightweight Ultra outsole.

Story: something about product focus?

In a cross-category collaboration with the Liberty of London print studio, Nike Sportswear and NikeCourt created a collection of sneakers and tennis shoes printed in a floral design inspired by Liberty's storied archives. Below is an example from the campaign, an email featuring Genie Bouchard and lots and lots of flowers.
